The prime minister’s move to scrap the Public Service New Remuneration Scheme (SBPA), that is copied from Pakatan Rakyat’s Buku Jingga, shows Najib Razak’s “lack of creativity” in running the country said PAS Youth today.

This is particularly since the ruling party has criticised Buku Jingga - Pakatan’s 100-day agenda - as “unrealistic” and would “bankrupt the country”, said Youth exco Mohd Firdaus Jaafar in a statement.

NONE On Thursay Najib ( right ), despite fierce resistance from the civil service, announced that the SBPA will be scrapped and that the pension scheme (SSM) will be reinstated.

Among others, the civil servants union Cuepacs argued that it had been poorly consulted over the move and that SSM unfairly favours higher grade employees.

Mohd Firdaus said this is not the first time BN has copied from Pakatan; Najib’s move to abolish the RM1 toll along the Cheras-Kajang highway was also a ‘copy paste’ from the Buku Jingga.

“Even though he (Najib) was ashamed to admit it, much of his recent actions clearly show he has no choice but to make some decisions, allegedly on the grounds that he has to ease the burden on the people,” he said.

NONE However, he warned that Buku Jingga’s agenda would never be implemented by Umno-BN as the ruling party “did not rule on the basis of helping the rakyat, but more with the attitude of ‘doing business’ with the rakyat”.

He said it would be no surprise should BN win the next general election, that all the promises remain “just talk”.

“Who can forget Umno-BN’s move to raise the price of petrol up to 80 sen just after the 12th general election, even though they lost their two-thirds majority.

“Imagine, even though they were in a situation where they were nearly rejected by a majority of Malaysians, they still pressed on to raise the petrol prices.

“What guarantee that all this would not be repeated if they should win in future?” added the Jerai MP.
