Court acquits legal adviser of misappropriating RM5mil
A legal adviser was acquitted and discharged by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today of misappropriating RM5 million in a bank account two years ago.
A legal adviser was acquitted and discharged by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today of misappropriating RM5 million in a bank account two years ago.
Judge SM Komathy Suppiah told the court the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case against George Paul Daniel SE Arokian of misappropriating RM5mil in a CIMB Bank account which did not belong to him.
He was alleged to have committed the offence at CIMB Bank Berhad, The Boulevard Shop Office, Jalan 11/48A, Sentul Raya, from March 31 to April 20, 2010.
The charge under Section 403 of Penal Code carries the maximum five years’ jail sentence, whipping and fine upon conviction.
Daniel, 59, was represented by counsel Munir Abdullah while the prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor P Viknesvaran.
