For the first time since it was set up 205 years ago, the Royal Malaysia Police will have its own mascot as a symbol of pride and achievement.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar, however, said the mascot would only be revealed to the public during the Police Day celebration at Merdeka Square on March 24.

“As the lyric of a Siti Nurhaliza song, let it be a secret,” he told Bernama in Kuala Lumpur today.

Meanwhile, Bukit Aman public relations officer Asst Comm Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the 205th Police Day celebration would also for the first time have a countdown on March 24.

“The mascot will be introduced at 12 midnight after the countdown. We also expect 3,500 local and foreign visitors, not including 1,500 police personnel, to attend and add to the merriment of the night,” he said.
