Foregone conclusion, rather than independent finding

VOXPOP 'With the PM having said the PSC's task is to explain that Lynas is safe, it all becomes a pointless exercise.'

Pakatan boycotts PSC on Lynas

vox populi small thumbnail Anonymous: It was a no-go right from the beginning. The minister wants the parliamentary select committee (PSC) to explain to the people that it is safe rather than going for an independent finding.

It is just a waste of time. I'm glad the opposition didn't fall for it.

Armageddon: Lynas must have a local partner that is so powerful that even the Parliament does not have the guts to shut down its operations.

Lim Chong Leong: Parliament is no longer the voice of the people but the publicity billboard for Umno and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. The House speaker is but the loudspeaker for Umno propaganda.

The PM has no respect for the people's house of legislature so much so that he can meet there to corrupt the course of justice and influence of the esteemed courts. Vote wisely in GE13.

Anonymous_40f4: The Lynas project has been approved by the Pahang government many years ago without consultation with the rakyat.

The building has been completed and now they have already been issued with a permit to operate by Najib's government.

So what is the use of forming a PSC now when the cows have gone home. Maybe this is what happens when the rakyat gives their ‘nambikei' (trust) to Umno-BN and Najib.

Blogsmith: "Where does it say in the proposal I've tabled? Does it say the PSC is intended to refute the twisted facts that have been presented?" asked Minister in the PM's Department Nazri Abdul Aziz.

There Nazri has unconsciously revealed his inner thoughts as even before the panel gets to deliberate on the facts, he has already labelled it "twisted".

So folks, don't be fooled. This has confirmed what had been revealed by Najib saying the final decision will not rest on the panel. So why bother setting up the panel?

This is definitely a whitewash and a public relation exercise.

Soo Jin Hou: Good, do not agree to the PSC unless these terms are met:

1) Stop work order issued to Lynas

2) Take back the TOL (temporary operation licence), pending results from the PSC

3) Stop the import of rare earth ore

4) The PSC has the power to decide if Lynas is allowed to continue.

These are very reasonable requests. If BN does not agree to these terms, it confirms that the whole PSC is a sandiwara (show).

PAC hearing on NFC stymied by tight-lipped GM

Changeagent: You know that the PAC hearing is just a big farce when they even bother wasting time on the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) human resources general manager.

It is anyone's wonder why they didn't think of speaking to the other directors of the company first, namely Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's children, since their names are also on the titles of the acquired condominiums, land, commercial properties and business subsidiaries.

Chuath: If the letter to NFC was necessary, why wasn't it issued in the first place? Time and resources were wasted having this half-hour meeting.

Does PAC know the proper procedure? When PAC member Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan said 'issue an invitation', does that imply that the recipient can decline the invitation?

If so, why does PAC even bother to be around?

Chipmunk: Looking at how PAC has thus far handled this matter, I am of the opinion that they are just a toothless tiger, just like MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission).

This isn't a trial and they get two lawyers to talk? What good is it to call the human resources general manager when she can't contribute to PAC?

And why is the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Ministry involved in the NFC fiasco? Do they have something to hide?

This is all too suspicious and Najib should be answering this issue.

Not Confused: Surely if answering PAC questions might incriminate the GM, then that implies that there is something criminal going on. This indirectly confirms it, doesn't it?

Anonymous_3fc4: What is wrong with the PAC, being so ill-prepared for an official hearing? Or is a ploy by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Ministry to cause delay and frustrations to the PAC committee?

Lim Chong Leong: What childish behaviour that they have to be invited by a letter directly from PAC before they can cooperate?

When that invitation letter is issued, they will give some other excuse. The fact is they are all hostile witnesses who should be subpoenaed and grilled.
