Women should be brave to give opportunities and support to other women to ensure the group moves forward especially in politics.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said irrespective of whether women are in politics or not, they have a role to play.

NONE "If women want to move forward in the present age, we ourselves must support other women to ensure more women in decision-making positions, especially in politics," she told reporters here today.

Earlier Shahrizat launched four books on the struggle of women in politics namely ‘Women and Politics’, ‘The Political Struggle of Women in Malaysia’, ‘Lifting  the Empowerment of Women, Family and Community’ and ‘Defending the Dignity of Malaysian Women’.

The books were commissioned to honour past women leaders who struggled for the voice of the Malaysian women in national politics.

Shahrizat, who is also Wanita Umno chief, said women should not blame men for the lack of opportunities as the present leaders had provided ample room for women to be involved in politics.

"Women should grab any opportunities that come by so as to strengthen the role of women in decision making irrespective of whether it is at grassroot, division or state levels," she said .
