The Perak government has gazetted 2,959.85 hectares of Orang Asli land in 23 areas in the state, said Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir.

He said this covered residential and agriculture land for use by the Orang Asli community.

"The land (2,959.85 hectares) had been referred to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak during his visit to Tapah recently.

"There are still land in 21 areas to be gazetted soon and when everything is completed, the total Orang Asli land gazetted will be 10,280.83 hectares," he said after performing the ground-breaking for Surau Rafeah in Meru Perdana, Ipoh, today.

Zambry said other than this, the state government had also implemented policies and approaches for the benefit of the people, including granting land ownership titles to squatters or they be relocated to more suitable areas.

    

Meanwhile, Zambry expressed satisfaction with developer MK Land which has  built new houses in Meru Perdana using the industrialised building system (IBS).

He said using the system, an area would be safer and cleaner, besides saving on manpower and time, and reducing the cost of houses.

"The IBS used by MK Land is not only more efficient but results in safer and stronger structures that are sound-proof, termite-resistant and incur minimal maintenance costs," he added.
