'Magnanimous' Wee forgives alleged 'attacker'

vox populi small thumbnail Anonymous: I do not like this incident as much as anyone who opposes political violence and intimidation that is becoming more frequent of late.

However, the mass emotional display of frustration by the Chinese community at the Kajang rally was not something that happened overnight nor did it sprout after the 308 political tsunami.

This goes back to three decades of endurance by Chinese (and Tamil) schools being systematically discriminated against and sidelined in their quest for equal rights in education.

Wee Ka Siong being the only MCA minister at the rally, was just unfortunate to have been equated by the angry crowd to the cause of the frustration.

MCA has failed spectacularly to safeguard the constitutional right of education in mother tongue.

Equally spectacularly, MCA has failed to stand up against the institutional discrimination practised by BN against the rakyat.

Jeremy Ng: Any physical intimidation or violence is wrong and should not be condoned. The past months witnessed many such acts of hooliganism and all political parties must condemn such actions irrespective of political affiliation.

Our police have sadly allowed and even seen to be protecting and supporting these acts. The recent attack on Wee is uncalled for. However, Wee and MCA should do some sincere soul searching for what the Chinese have gone through under them.

Where do we go from here? That hand in the photograph looks like showing a thumb-down gesture, no?

Onyourtoes: No one is seeking your forgiveness, so why the need to be magnanimous. By the way, if you were punched that day, I think many would feel very little sympathy for you.

I think you and your BN cohorts have no idea how the common people in this country feel toward the ruling establishment today.

You have no idea how the ruling elites have milked this country this country dry and in return gave us shitty governance and services. Please look elsewhere if sympathy is what you are looking for.

It is time you guys of MCA sincerely and honestly ask yourselves, can MCA actually function or you are there just to share the piece of cake with Umno?

Goliath: I am a Chinese and I am not a MCA member. I support the 325 rally. I also support all the motions raised during the rally, but to ‘shoo' and ‘boo' is disrespectful.

As has been said, the problem of Chinese education has been there for the last 40 years, which is not the fault of Wee, not to mention he is only been deputy minister for the last few years.

If he cares to be there to listen to the cries of the people, let's give him the benefit of doubt that he meant to help.

To be honest, Wee in his capacity of deputy education minister, is the best bet for us to bring about change.

If we don't talk to him, who else can we talk to? The PM? (he is only interested in 1Malaysia). Shahrizat Abdul Jalil? She is only interested in cows.

Cloudnine: I think if we need to debate, we debate as vociferously as possible. No need to ‘touch leg, touch hand'; no need to get physical.

I am no supporter of Wee but I do respect his right to speak. Same thing with those roughing up the opposition, shouting abuses and kicking their vehicles. No need for this.

Show them respect and let everyone speak. Then we make our decision. That little power to decide with our votes makes us kings albeit just for a moment. As kings, let us behave like royalty.

If we are not powerful, why would the BN and opposition be jostling to speak to us?

Probe on AG and ex-IGP if Pakatan captures Putrajaya

Swkdayaks: Najib Abdul Razak's the most cowardly prime minister in the world. Senior Malay police officers are lining up to give evidence but Najib is still so afraid to set up the required tribunal.

Maybe former Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) chief Ramli Yusuff and former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Mat Zain Ibrahim and the other police officers concerned should now form their own network or NGO and go for a road show throughout Malaysia, especially to the Malay kampungs and disclose all the evidence they have which Najib still refuses to accept.

Better still, if these police officers support Pakatan and campaign with Pakatan where they can share their personal experience as to how the BN colludes with and protects crooks, thieves, robbers. The rural voters need such revelations from Malay leaders and officers.

Kairos: What DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said is critical. Unless and until we change the government, the good hand of the law is tied.

Good honest cops cannot function effectively because bad corrupted politicians and the attorney-general will stifle them.

This encourages evil people to do more wrong because they know that they are protected by the powers from the very top.

For the sake of the survival and the future of the country, we must put a stop to this or else our country will certainly go to the dogs.

The moment our top law enforcement officers and officials join hands with the underworld, Malaysia is finished because then there is no sense of right and wrong. White becomes black and black becomes grey.

Multi Racial: Any responsible PM would have established a tribunal to investigate. Unless...?
