Gov't seeks new company to take over NFC project

your say Save Our Currency: This is the beginning of a cover-up. Let the new company take over the problem through a government-private sector collaboration based on ‘I will give you another contract somewhere else to cover the losses here'.

Tell the rakyat the problem has been settled and it is all over - we have done our job.

But have the assets of Cowgate been frozen? Where is the declaration by the High Court? Have the other personal assets of the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) directors been frozen?

Talk about that, not about transferring problems elsewhere.

Slumdog: This is another mind-boggling decision by the government.

The case against NFC chief Mohamad Salleh Ismail has not even been decided by the courts, the financial mess has not yet been unraveled, not all the key players in this sordid affair have been investigated and yet the government wants to resurrect the NFC project.

It looks like Umno is in a rush to hand over the money to one of their cronies before the GE.

Joker: So far, only one person has been charged in court, the chairman of NFC. What about the other directors?

What about the then agricultural minister and his team who approved the project, the committee which was tasked to disburse and monitor the usage of the funds?

It seems like the buck always stop somewhere else. If the NFC management is negligent, how much more so are the government ministers and committee members who are supposed to safeguard the people's money?

Finally, now that the government seeks a new company to take over the NFC project, thereby admitting NFC has failed, when will all those condos and properties be sold and the money returned to the taxpayers?

Anonymous: So, they finally concede there were serious misappropriations of government funds in this project after the police and the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin initially declared nothing untoward took place.

Imagine the situation had PKR strategic chief Rafizi Ramli not pursued the case like a pit bull, Sharizat Abdul Jalil's family would still be happily pocketing the money and running the project to the ground.

Truly this regime is utterly corrupt and the bigger concern is this could just be the tip of the iceberg.

Kairos: While the government is seeking a new tender for the NFC project, what happens to the old one?

Is the government going to write off all the losses without seeking to recover all the rakyat's money spent on land and condos? If so, why?

Is it just because it is Shahrizat who is behind all this and therefore she is untouchable? Or is it because somebody higher up also has a vested interest in the whole project and therefore she can go scot-free so that nobody is implicated?

Whatever it is, one thing is certain. The rakyat will not be so easily hoodwinked and we will not rest till full justice is done. There will be no allowance for any cover-up.

Changeagent: Agriculture Minister Noh Omar cannot even answer simple elementary questions like whether Shahrizat's family will lose the project, or if the federal government would seek an reimbursement of the RM250 million soft loan.

That says enough about the determination of the government to repair its own battered reputation and credibility following the NFC debacle.

Anonymous: How more serious can we expect the BN government to be when RM250 million of taxpayers money are involved?

There are many questions that need to be answer before you call a tender for interested companies to take over. How much of the RM250 million soft loan has been drawn down?

How much of the money has been diverted and transferred out for purposes other than what the soft loan was intended for? How come the other directors have not been charged for mismanaging the money?

Our government cannot just ignore the matter and be accused of a cover-up as the matter involved the immediate family members of a very senior Umno member.

Anonymous2: What's going to happen to the condos in Bangsar and Singapore along with the restaurant in Singapore? Will the new company take over these properties too?

Him Mal Aya: We want Shahrizat and her family to return the RM250 million with compound interest.

Next ban them from leaving the country. Force them to sweep the rubbish at the beaches throughout the country. Video the scene and include it in ‘Malaysia Truly Asia' segment. Shame these devils.
