Police have completed their investigation into an acid attack on a teacher and a student at a bus-stop at the 17th mile, Rawang on March 27.

Selangor police chief Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah said this followed the arrest of a 34-year-old man in front of a mobile phone shop in Jalan Bandar, Rawang at 5pm on March 30.

He said this was the second arrest involving the acid attack in Rawang, with the first suspect nabbed about 1am on the same day in Kuala Kubu Baru.

“We arrested the suspect based on investigation and information such as a burn mark on the suspect’s hand. So, we believe with the arrests, this case is solved,” he told reporters in Shah Alam today.

 In the 7am incident on March 27, both victims, Nuraqilah Osman, 14, and S Rani, 46, were waiting for a bus when two men walked towards them and snatched Rani’s gold chain.

They then splashed a liquid believed to be acid on Rani and the girl before fleeing.

Nuraqilah received outpatient treatment at Selayang Hospital while Rani was warded for burns on her face, neck, chest and hands.

According to police, this incident, however, had no connection with the series of acid splashing incidents that occurred in the Klang Valley earlier.
