The founder of Aura Seri cosmetic products lost about RM500,000 after her two housemaids fled with valuables and cash from her house in Medan Idaman, Gombak, on Sunday.

Ira Ghani, 35, said the incident happened when she and her husband Ibrahim Ahmad, 46, were in Singapore on business leaving sons Mohd Danish Irfan, 13, and Mohd Danish Roshan, 8, and a nephew in the three storey terraced house.

"I was told about the incident after my oldest son, Mohd Danish Irfan sent a voice mail that the maids had run off with two iPhones and two iPads," Ira told a press conference accompanied by Ibrahim at their house today.

Following the incident, the couple returned to Kuala Lumpur yesterday and lodged a police report at Gombak police station at 11.25pm .

Missing were 11 Rolex and Tag Heuer watches, 20 gold rings, a gold necklace, two pairs of earrings, four smartphones, 30 branded t-shirts, two Bvlgari and Louis Vuitton handbags, cash RM5,000, passports and work permits of the maids.

The absence of CCTV cameras made it difficult to know what happened but the maids could have fled via the kitchen door as the house keys were left in the refrigerator while the gate remote control was found in the mailbox.

Ira said the contracts of maids Luluk Tanjiyah, 32 dan Udayati, 40, from West Java, Indonesia will end in Aug and Nov respectively.

"My son found a plastic bag full of clothing belonging to the two housemaids dumped in the trash bin in our house.

" She wondered how the maids could have entered her bedroom and opened the cupboard as they were locked.

"The condition of my bedroom was normal without any signs that it was ransacked . All the things were in their original position.

"On hindsight, Ira said she just realised that some RM15,000 was missing since the the beginning of the year.

Following the police report, the Immigration Department has revoked the permits and passports of the maids and contacted their agents in Indonesia who failed to find Luluk and Udayati at their houses in Surabaya.

Meanwhile, Sentul district police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan confirmed receiving a police report on the incident.
