Mohamad Azhar Ngah, 34, confessed to voluntarily causing injury to his wife by cutting her scalp with a knife, the Star said.
"I cut her scalp because she did not wear a (headscarf) and she had dyed her hair. I did not like it," he was quoted as saying.
He sent his wife, Rafidah Ibrahim, 34, to hospital after the incident which occurred on March 28. He was arrested the next day.
The couple have been married for 13 years and have two sons and a daughter.
If found guilty, Mohamed Azhar could be jailed for up to three years or fined or whipped, the report said adding that prosecuting officers were still awaiting the victim's medical report. - AFP
