Eleven new Federal Court, Appeal Court and High Court judges were sworn in at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya today, witnessed by Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria and the judicial fraternity.  

They comprised four Federal Court, two Appeal Court and five High Court judges.   

The Federal Court judges were Zaleha Zahari, Zainun Ali, Sulong Matjeraie and Jeffrey Tan Kok Wha.   

Zaleha, 63, from Kajang, Selangor, was an Appeal Court judge since 2005 and a legal adviser to the Home Affairs and Education Ministries.

Zainun, 60, who read law at Universiti Malaya, held the position of Federal Court chief registrar in 1994 and was appointed Appeal Court judge in 2006.

Sulong, 65, from Saratok, Sarawak was Bintulu district officer in 1971 and Bintulu Development Authority general manager in 1980 and appointed as Kota Kinabalu High Court judge in 2000.  

Tan, 63, was Perak Bar Council chairperson in 1992 and judicial commissioner in 1994 before being appointed to the Appeal Court in 2009.  

High Court judges Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim and Lim Yee Lan were sworn in to the Appeal Court.  

Abdul Aziz, 62, who is from Kuantan, Pahang, started his career as a public administration officer in 1972 before becoming senior federal counsel in 1997 and was a Kuala Lumpur High Court judge since 2009.

Lim, 60, from Johor Baru used to be a treasury solicitor in 2001 and appointed judicial commissioner in 2005.  

The five new High Court judges were Hasnah Mohamed Hashim, Harmindar Singh Dhaliwal, Hadhariah Syed Ismail, Supang Lian and Stephen Chung Hian Guan, all judicial commissioners previously.
