your say Pondering: Why is a morally bankrupt regime trying to be preach moral values? We have our moral values and we do not need unscrupulous hypocrites trying to instil moral values into us.

The shameless authorities are using petty issues to cover up major issues that are systematically rotting the nation.

I'm totally disgusted by these illiterate self-serving individuals trying hard to portray themselves as being religious whilst being morally corrupt when in private.

GovPayMaster: We can screen sex videos but not allow ballet dancing? We might as well ban swimming, beach volleyball and undergarment stores because they are more glaring.

Malaysians really need to open our eyes and embrace knowledge and various religions with an open heart.

Recently, we banned Erykah Badu performing in ‘moderate' Malaysia. However, she performed in Jakarta in front of the Indonesian president.

Not Confused: The Nutcracker ballet has been performed all over the world for over 100 years, to audiences of all races, religions and ages, but it is obviously too raunchy for Malaysian audiences.

The BN government is like a headless chicken with its moronic ministers running around and undoing what little good their colleagues try to do.

Once again, this pathetic and misguided edict will make Malaysia a laughing stock internationally.

As a foreigner, I am often disappointed that Malaysia is left off of the itineraries of some of the best international stars in many fields of entertainment.

I can't see things getting any better with morons like these running around, equating everything with sex. So sad!

Amused Malaysian: When people of low self-esteem and lack of culture are placed in important positions, they seem to become "little Hitlers".

This is a classic case, but with Rais Yatim heading the Information, Communication and Culture Ministry, not much can be expected.

Confused: Maybe the ministry should suggest that the ballerinas wear track bottoms and long-sleeved outfits to perform their routine.

Anonymous_3f4a: This shows how uncultured we are as a country. On the one hand, the federal government claim how well we are doing as a progressive and knowledge-based country - a role model for, and a marvel of, the developing countries.

On the other hand, we are closed-minded to art and cultural performances from other countries.

It looks as if the federal government wants its citizens to be open and yet close-minded, a contradiction of sorts.

Malaysia can hardly be described as a progressive country but rather a regressive one despite over 50 years of independence.

In comparison, our neighboring country with whom we share a common cultural, racial and religious mix and started our nation-building at the same time, is progressing by leaps and bounds.

Makcik Har: This is just somebody in Puspal (Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes) trying to exert his authority.

He has his own beliefs, which is not in sync with modern society. He is probably most suited to live among the Talibans. How did he get the job?

This is not due to the influence of the West or Singapore. This is the age in which we live and we cannot insulate people from outside influences.

This we can only do if we have good role models from within the nation. What do we have but the two sons of Ali who exhibit their self-righteousness, and a whole host of political leaders whose morality is in question.

They are the ones who need to be dealt with, not the Singapore ballet group.
