The Central Agency for the Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal) and the Visa, Passes and Permits Division of the Malaysian Immigration Department today said checks on documents submitted for a ballet performance from Singapore found their authencity to be doubtful.  

In a statement in Kuala Lumpur today, Puspal said the doubts arose because the account number for receipt of the documents submitted by KLPac or the KL Performing Arts Centre was the same as one issued two years ago.

Puspal also said the application was only made at midday on Wednesday.

Yesterday, a KLPac spokesperson had said KLPac had sent copies of a permit application for Singapore Dance Theatre, which was to stage the performance, to Puspal as proof that the said documents had been submitted as early as March.

A controversy on the performance broke out last night after it was said Puspal had been denied a permit for it although the application had been submitted way in advance.

The show was scheduled for this weekend at KLPac.
