Burglars broke into a house belonging to a member of the Selangor royal household in Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur  today and escaped with a Mercedes Benz and valuables.

Kuala Lumpur Police CID chief Ku Chin Wah said two men believed to be Indonesians armed with daggers broke into the house at 5.30am after forcing open a front window.

He said they then herded four house helpers comprising two men and two women into a room, tied them up and locked up the room.

“The Selangor royal household members were overseas at that time. Only the house helpers were in the house. They were not harmed,” he said in an SMS message to Bernama today.

Ku also confirmed that a man arrested a few hours after the break-in is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary.

Police sources said initial investigation found fingerprints on the second and third floor, proof it was ransacked by the two men.

The luxury house in opulent Bukit Tunku is not equipped with closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
