An MCA man and a DAP assemblyperson bumped into each other and engaged in a war of words in front of the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Shah Alam over the Sungai Way football field issue.

Barisan Nasional (BN) coordinator for Kampung Tunku constituency Kelvin Chong Seng Foo and Kampung Tunku assemblyperson Lau Weng San had earlier emerged from the same lift going towards the MACC office, arguing and engaging in verbal jabs.

The encounter lasted about 15 minutes in front of the media. Chong later went into the MACC office.

Met by reporters later, Chong said he had lodged a report with the MACC calling for investigation into the plan to implement a commercial project on a site where a football field is located.

Asked about Lau’s presence, he said, he welcomed the move by the DAP assemblyperson to come to the MACC over the issue.

“I think all politicians should emulate what happened today, where both sides present their evidence so that action can be taken,” he said.

The issue came to light following a plan by a developer to implement a commercial project where the field is located.

The area is being used by pupils from a Chinese school.

Lau said he would hand over documents to the MACC on the same issue.
