MIC president G Palanivel wished a very happy Nanthana Chitrai Puthandu (Tamil new year) to the Indian community in the country who welcome the new year tomorrow.

In a short press statement released here today, Palanivel also wished all the Malayalee and Sikhs a very happy Vishu and Vaisakhi celebration which falls on Saturday.

He also extended the new year wish to the Thais and Burmese who will be celebrating the water festival of Songkran and Thingyan tomorrow.

“I hope this year will bring auspiciousness to the south and south-east Asian communities which follow the solar calendar,” he said.
