A further 22 people were allowed to return to their homes, bringing the number of flood victims in Kampar to 313, as of 10am today.

The 95 families are being housed at SMK Kampar.

Kampar police chief Supt Abdul Aziz Salleh told reporters that the overflow from Sungai Kampar has receded and conditions at several villages were back to normal.

Among the villages affected by the floods were Kampung Melayu, Kampung Baru, Kampung Pasir, Kampung Nyior, Jeram, Kampung Mesah, Kuala Dipang, Changkat Jering and Kampung Batu 20.

Last Wednesday a heavy downpour caused the river to overflow and submerge the villages up to their rooftops, causing more than 1,000 residents to be evacuated.
