It is RTM’s prerogative not to air the episode of its Bicara Rakyat talk show that featured Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, according to Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang.
"I hope Fuziah wll not make any baseless and prejudiced statements (for political mileage) against any party in the
Bicara Rakyat
forum" he said in a statement today.
The panel discussion, which also featured Tan and Atomic Energy Licensing Board director-general Raja Abdul Aziz Raja Adnan, was recorded on March 16 and was expected to be aired on March 23 on RTM1.
However, RTM did not air the talk show that discussed the controversial RM700 million Lynas rare earths processing plant in Gebeng, Kuantan.
Questioning this yesterday, Fuziah had speculated on the possibility of censorship.
Playing this down, Tan said it was never a debate to begin with and suggested that Fuziah should take him on in a real debate.
He said Fuziah had initially agreed to debate him, but had pulled out later.
"This was after the organiser asked for both sides to bring with them a scientist to support their views,” said Tan.
"If Fuziah is still up to debating the Lynas issue, I will accept the challenge and provide accurate facts to the rakyat.”
