PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and veep Tian Chua have denied that they ridiculed the Malay rulers during the installation of Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah as Agong on April 11.

Azmin, who is Gombak MP, was quoted by Berita Harian as questioning the presence of Dr Rahman Kadir, a medical officer, in the installation hall.

NONE "I do not know what allegations were made, but this shows that the Umno and BN propagandists are not able to answer the issues faced by the people," Azmin was quoted as saying.

Chua, who is the Batu MP, questioned the need for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI), which some NGOs have urged to be set up to investigate the allegations against him and Azmin.

He said he would also consider legal action against Utusan Malaysia for reporting the allegation from Rahman's blog without verifying the facts.

Utusan Malaysia reported today that Azmin had avoided answering questions it had asked.

It also said the National Silat Exponents Association support the formation of a RCI to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he is willing to meet the Agong to explain the situation.

"This is just a small issue raised for political gain. It should not have been raised while the people are rejoicing over Tuanku Abdul Halim's installation," he said.

"I got to know His Majesty before I became Selangor menteri besar. He is humble, approachable and is always concerned about the people. I am willing to meet him to explain the situation," said Khalid.
