Wanita Umno called for a stern action against the opposition leaders who allegedly showed disrespect during the installation of Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong last week.

NONE In a statement, its chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil  ( right ) said yesterday the conduct of the opposition leaders concerned as rude and showed that they had a very shallow identity as Malaysians.

She said the opposition leaders had no respect for the position of the Malay rulers.

"We, members of Wanita Umno, as mothers and leaders who uphold the struggles of the race and religion, deeply regret the insults against the Malay Rulers and call on the relevant authorities to take stern action," she said.

The Opposition members of Parliament, who allegedly mocked the installation ceremony, refused to offer any explanation or make any effort to deny the allegation.

Instead, Azmin Ali and Tian Chua of PKR and Khalid Samad of PAS questioned the credibility of a medical officer, Dr Rahman Kadir, who wrote about the alleged incident on his social web page.
