The DAP today questioned the logic of Pasir Mas MP and Perkasa president, Ibrahim Ali, in challenging the DAP to propose to the Singapore government to repeal its Internal Security Act (ISA).

NONE According to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's political secretary, Zairil Khir Johari ( left ), Malaysia has a policy of non-interference regarding the affairs of another country, what more a neighbouring country which is an Asean member.

"I would like to stress the DAP does not have anything to do with Singapore or any other country as the party is only for Malaysians," he said.

"The DAP is a party which always upholds the principles of justice, freedom, equality and human rights. DAP would not hesitate in protesting or opposing draconian laws like the ISA which allows detention without trial.

"We do not only oppose its use in Malaysia but also anywhere in the world. This is also in line with DAP's stand to uphold human rights and freedom of the individual," said Zairil in a statement.

He added that if Ibrahim wanted to defend the ISA as successful in maintaining peace, he should have protested the repealing of the Act.

Zairil questioned why Ibrahim did not do this.

"If Ibrahim is truly brave, Perkasa should mount a big demonstration in Putrajaya against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for repealing the ISA."

Yesterday, Ibrahim had challenged the DAP to propose to Singapore to repeal the ISA during the debate of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Bill 2012 in the Dewan Rakyat.
