Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who had minor surgery to remove nasal polyps yesterday, is scheduled to be discharged from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre tomorrow.

According to a statement issued by his aides today, the former prime minister was responding well to treatment and that doctors were happy with his progress.

“He is taking normal meals and is scheduled to be discharged tomorrow,” it said.

The hour-long surgery which began at 9.30am was performed by a medical team led by Prof Dr Abdullah Sani Mohamed.

Visitation is limited to family members.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak tweeted: “My prayers and well wishes go to Tun Dr Mahathir as he recovers from a minor nasal polyps surgery.”
