A joint venture between MMC Corp Bhd and Gamuda Bhd has accepted the RM8.28 billion contract for the underground works package for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit.

A joint statement by MMC and Gamuda said MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd, a jointly-controlled entity of the two companies, will undertake the construction of the 9.5 kilometre stretch from Semantan North Portal to Maluri South Portal.

The underground works package comprises the design and construction of tunnels, seven underground stations and other associated works.

Project supervisor Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) had said the consortium offered the most competitive price.

Both companies said they will make the appropriate announcement to Bursa Malaysia as and when there is a material development in relation to the underground works package of the project.
