Those parties intending to abolish the Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans need not be hasty in making the decision.
Former prime minister and Kepala Batas member of parliament Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said, any move to abolish should be carefully studied as it involved many quarters.
"Not necessary to hastily do it (abolish PTPTN)... discuss and scrutinise the matter before making a decision.
"PTPTN involves many parties, and if it needs to be amended or abolished, they (opposition) should submit a proposal to the parties concerned," he told reporters after opening a 1Malaysia People's Mini Carnival at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Haji Ahmad Badawi in Kepala Batas today.
He said this when asked to comment on a statement by PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who has made known his intention to abolish the PTPTN loan as soon as the opposition was given the mandate to be the central government in the 13th general election.
