Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today called on the young generation in the country to reject the new ideology propagated by the opposition pact, particularly those that disputed the provisions contained in the Federal Constitution.
Describing such acts as an attempt to 'destroy the country', he said that disputing what the government was doing such as those contained in the constitution, which the opposition claimed as being unfair to the people, was a slander deliberately manipulated to confuse the people.
"They have brought a new ideology by questioning many things that we have accepted all this while, questioning a major part of the provisions contained in the Federal Constitution by stating that the BN is not fair to all races in the country.
"These are all slanders. That's why I want to call on all of you to oppose them as they want to destroy the country," he said when launching the programme'BN the Choice of the Young People' at the Federal Territory level at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Training Institute.
Muhyiddin said the tendency of the opposition to manipulate facts such as the issue on the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and the demand for liberty to be given to the bisexual and transgender groups should not be igored because such demands could lead to problems for the people and country.
He said that due to the manipulation of the PTPTN issue, the opposition pact had succeeded in influencing the young generation and university students to assemble and set up camps at the Dataran Merdeka whereas they had actually been deceived.
'Lack of support for Dataran occupiers'
Muhyiddin, who is also the Federal Territory BN chairperson, said the young generation, particularly BN Youth, must come forward as the defender of the nation in warding off the slanders by the opposition who had become more active lately.
"On the PTPTN issue where the young people were persuaded to assemble at the Dataran Merdeka, I notice that the people did not give their support. They should be ashamed because they had been deceived by the opposition.
"So, if they want to propagate this deviationist culture and manipulations, then the BN Youth must go all out against them and don't allow them to destroy the system of life that we have developed in Malaysia all this while," he said.
On support for the BN in the Federal Territory, Muhyiddin said the level of support and public acceptance for the BN had improved compared to the general election in 2008 as a result of the transformations carried out by Najib Abdul Razak as Umno president, BN chairperson as well as the prime minister.
He said the launching of the 'BN the Choice of the Young People' programme also proved that BN Youth was prepared to play a role in creating awareness on the people in the Federal Territory who did not support the BN in 2008 to make the party as their choice in the next general election.
