The Public Services Department (PSD) will expand its briefing of the salary increase scheme under the Malaysia Remuneration System (SSM) for civil servants, throughout the country, said its director-general Abu Bakar Abdullah.

He said it was aimed at clarifying the implementation of the Service Circular Number 1, 2012 to civil servants in each state on salary adjustments under SSM, announced in March.

“We want to obtain feedback so that the issue presented could be given due attention by PSD and the Special Commission when it is set up,” he told reporters after a briefing programme in Malacca today.

Malacca is the first state to be visited by PSD for the briefing.

Abu Bakar said the department would also be issuing a service circular on the changes to salary of government employees on April 16.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on March 8 announced the cancellation of the New Civil Service Remuneration (SBPA) scheme and revert to an improved SSM scheme with salary adjustments of between seven and 13 percent.
