Barisan Nasional (BN) will come up with a special manifesto for Kelantan, spelling out all the promises which the coalition will fulfil if it wins the state in the coming election, Muhyiddin Yassin said.

The deputy prime minister said the BN would look into the details of the manifesto, taking into account the needs of the Kelantan people which the PAS-led government had failed to fulfill since ruling the state in 1990.

“We will discuss each and every detail of the manifesto, spelling out our promises in black and white, which the BN will implement if it wins the state.

“This is unlike the manifesto of the opposition parties which only know how to make promises but do nothing to fulfil them,” he said at a meet-the-people session in Tumpat.

The event was attended by about 10,000 teachers and educators, Rela personnel, voluntary patrol corps members as well as the local community at SMK Chabang Empat in Tumpat today.

Muhyiddin said there was a vacuum in the state’s development which the BN could filled in line with its vision to take Kelantan along with other states, in the country’s march towards becoming a high-income developed nation in eight years.

“We are moving on as a rapidly developing country. In eight years, we will become a developed nation; all states will have a part in realising the vision,” he said.

“This is about us together,” said Muhyiddin. “We don’t want any state to be left out. That’s why we want Kelantan to be with us in the BN.”

Muhyiddin said that many Kelantan people had come to see him and asked him when the election would be held because they wanted to vote for the BN so that it could implement the development programmes which PAS had failed to carry out.

“Look at what has been happening since 21 years ago. There are all kinds ofproblems... land, water, surau, investment and failed businesses,” he said.

He praised Mustapa Mohamed, who is Kelantan Umno liaison chief and International Trade and Industry Minister, for working tirelessly for the state and to bring the people back to the BN.

Muhyiddin also slammed PAS for colluding with individuals like Anwar Ibrahim and S Ambiga whose value systems he said were against Islam.

“Why is PAS colluding with these people whose values contradict Islam? Let’s not cast aside religion for political convenience; BN will never compromise with individuals like them,” he said.

PAS should realise who Anwar was, Muhyiddin said, pointing out that the opposition leader was now being opposed by his own friends.

At the event, Muhyiddin announced RM75,000 in allocation for Kelantan Rela corps, RM50,000 for the Kelantan voluntary patrol scheme, RM30,000 for the Tumpat Teachers’ Consultative Council and RM300,000 to upgrade the school field of SMK Chabang Empat.
