A DAP parliamentarian today called on privatised water supplier Perbadanan Urus Air Selangor (Puas) to provide some answers over the quality of water it supplies to millions in the Klang Valley.
In an open memorandum to its chief executive officer Mohd Sinon Muzadkir, Kepong MP Ten Seng Giaw (

He also questioned the company's criteria in two areas - the decision to pass on to consumers the cost of improvement works to equipment, and for selecting contractors.
Tan said the company should also explain its non-revenue losses resulting from pipe leakages, and to state what it is doing to prevent such occurrences.
Unsatisfactory service
Privatised since 2002 and currently owned by the Selangor government, Puas had been expected to improve productivity and water supply in the Klang Valley.
However, services are riddled with problems. Complaints of murky water are common and residential areas regularly experience service interruptions, especially during dry spells.
Last month, the Selangor government said it would initiate a bylaw limiting the use of water during droughts in an effort to prevent disruptions.
Puas officials could not be reached for comment.
