Seksualiti Merdeka: 'LGBT rally' likely by imposters
The support group Seksualiti Merdeka has denied it is involved in any pro-LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders) rally today or at Bersih 3.0 tomorrow.
The support group Seksualiti Merdeka has denied it is involved in any pro-LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders) rally today or at Bersih 3.0 tomorrow.
The people behind the alleged rally, reported to be taking place at 2.30pm today, are likely to be imposters out to cause provocation, it said.
“Seksualiti Merdeka is not in any way involved in a supposed pro-LGBT rally at the Bar Council.
“Seksualiti Merdeka has no knowledge of this event, which may be the work of agent provocateurs.
The group in a statement today stressed that it was “inactive” for the entire month of April and was not taking part in any event, including tomorrow's Bersih 3.0 Duduk-Bantah .
The civil society movement was responding to a posting this week on a pro-Umno blog, mynewshub.my, that an unnamed group is organising the rally today at 2.30pm.
The anonymous article added that “LGBT will also join the Bersih 3.0 demonstration... ”.
Seksualiti Merdeka said in an email, “Any group purporting to be Seksualiti Merdeka, or a pro-LGBT group, at Bersih 3.0 is likely to be imposters and perhaps agent provocateurs.”
The group that promoted the civil rights of the LGBT community added that the same blog has recently posted an updated claiming the supposed rally has been "cancelled at the last minute".
