Internal economic strength enables the BN government to make available various forms of aid in large quantities to the people, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said in Kuching today.

This is due to the government's efficient administration of the country, resulting in Malaysia being able to raise its revenue despite uncertainty in the global economy, he said.

NONE "Over a period of one year, from 2010 to 2011, the national revenue jumped by RM26 billion owing to our efficient administration and the large profits garnered by our companies," Najib said when launching the "Promises Fulfilled" roadshow at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya

He said the rise in national revenue was unprecedented. Najib said foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic investment last year reached RM120 billion and about 300,000 jobs were created.

He said that the BN, as a caring government, returned the additional revenue to the people through programmes such as the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), 1Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M) and RM100 aid for school students.

These programmes had benefited about 4.2 million families, more than 1.3 million university and Form Six students and 5.3 million primary and secondary students nationwide, he said.

Najib said the administrative efficiency of the BN government had brought the additional revenue and put paid to the opposition claim that foreign loans were obtained to finance these programmes.

"They (the opposition) are unable to show proof. We did not borrow funds from abroad. We used our internal economic strength to provide for the people," he said.
