Right wing movement Perkasa today called on the Malay rulers to use the powers vested with them to revoke the citizenship of Malaysians who show disrespect to them and the constitution.

Its president Ibrahim Ali, when reading out the declaration of the movement’s ‘Raja Berdaulat Kasih Dijunjung’ (Sovereign Rulers, Loved by the People) gathering in Kuala Lumpur, he said there were elements out there who were trying to  play havoc with Article 153 of the constitution (matters related to the Malay rulers) and the Rukun Negara (National Philosophy).

“Be aware that these acts of treason, insolence and other rebellious actions in various forms, are subtly designed to inculcate hatred and rebellion against the institution of the Malay rulers.

“Realise that such actions can arouse hatred and chaos and threaten the harmony of the people’s lives under the auspices of institution of the Malay rulers as the umbrella of national unity and the people,” he said in front of about 4,000 participants of the rally which was held at the Sultan Sulaiman Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur.

He said revoking the citizenship of the culprits would serve as a lesson to other individuals not to show disrespect to the constitution and the Malay rulers.

The two-page declaration, which the movement plans to submit to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, also contained a pledge of loyalty to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s government which is headed by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Earlier, speaking at the same stage, Dr Hasan Ali, the president of another right wing movement, Jalur Tiga (Jati), said there could be no compromise in defending the three pillars of the nation, namely Islam, the Malays and the Malay rulers.
