Koperasi Gula Perlis chairperson Abdul Shukor Mohd Sultan and vice-head of the Arau Umno division, Mohd Khalid Ahmad were sworn in as members of the Senate in Kuala Lumpur.

They took their oaths before Senate president Abu Zahar Nika Ujang.

Abdul Shukor, 62, who is also the assistant general manager of Kilang Gula Felda Perlis Sdn Bhd, is a committee member of the Padang Besar Umno division and head of the Gula Umno branch.

This was his first term as a senator.

Mohd Khalid, 58, has completed one term as a senator and his senatorship was being extended for another term.

Mohd Khalid, who was first appointed as a senator in April 2009, is also head of the RPA Umno branch, Arau.
