The Coroner's Court was told today that post-mortem was conducted only on two bodies at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) between 11.30pm on July 9, 2011 and 4am the following day.

    

Assistant Medical Officer at the hospital’s Forensic Medical Department, Muhd Yunus Muhamad Nor, 28, said the bodies were that of Baharudin Ahmad, the taxi driver who died while participating in an unlawful assembly, and another belonging to one Sulaiman Ramli, which was brought from Petaling Jaya.

“The post-mortem on Baharudin’s body was conducted beginning 11.30pm on July 9 last year, while the autopsy on Sulaiman’s body started at 3.20am the following day,” he told an inquest into Baharudin’s death.

The 26th witness said the post-mortems on the two bodies were not done at the same time, adding that he was the one who prepared and sent the draft of the post-mortem on Sulaiman’s body to the morgue.

He told the court that he was working on the 9pm shift at HKL’s registration counter on that day (July 9, 2011).

Muhd Yunus said the report on the cause of Baharudin’s death, following an autopsy done by HKL pathologist, Dr Khairul Anuar Zainun, stated “pending laboratory analysis”, while Dr Ferwan Fairis Ab Karim, who did the post-mortem on Sulaiman’s body, stated the cause of the victim’s death as “Schemil Heart Disease Due To Coronary”.

After the post-mortem, he said, Baharudin’s body was handed over to his daughter, Dr Ummi Mirza, at 3.45am, while Sulaiman’s body was claimed by wife, Mariani Harun, at 4.15am.

The hearing before Coroner Zulkpli Abdullah continues on June 4.
