Malacca Wanita MCA chief Kian Sit Har has defended her presence at the public rally organised by non-governmental organisations at Dataran Pahlawan, Bandar Hilir, last Saturday and will not quit her post.

She said she attended the gathering in her personal capacity and as a citizen concerned with the issues raised at the gathering.

“As a responsible citizen, I support two issues highlighted at the gathering, namely eradicating corruption and for the coming general election to be fair and clean.

“These two things are good for the people and I feel they are national issues that should be supported,” said the former senator when contacted today.

She was asked to comment on a newspaper report which quoted Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam as asking her to resign as state Wanita MCA head for her involvement in the gathering that was backed by the opposition.

Mohd Ali, who is also Malacca BN chief, regarded the MCA veteran’s action as sabotage and back-stabbing of BN, and creating difficulty for MCA.

Kian said she did not share Mohd Ali’s view as she was only delivering a message and that her action was not anti-government.
