Umno members have been reminded not to indulge in campaigning that can harm the party in the coming Umno elections.
Umno acting president and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said all Umno members must know how to carry themselves and not get involved in money politics.
"Let me stress how important it is for all Umno members to carry themselves well in the elections and not cause or conduct campaigning that may create a bad situation for the party.
"Don't get involved at all in money politics," he told reporters after meeting Pahang state executive councillors and assemblymen and state Umno divisional leaders in Temerloh.
Not forbidding contests
According to a Bernama report, when asked about new elected representatives wanting to contest for posts in the party elections, Pak Lah said: "We don't forbid it, it's up to them."
He said Umno must be strong to work with the government to make a success of the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto for the last general election.
The prime minister also reminded the elected representatives to work hard to ensure comprehensive development in all areas in the country.
