Deputy secretary-general (operations) of the Home Ministry, Abd Rahim Mohd Radzi has been appointed as the ministry’s secretary general. His appointment takes effect on May 19.

In a statement in Kuala Lumpur today, the chief secretary to the government, Mohd Sidek Hassan, said Abd Rahim would replace Mahmood Adam who would end his service as secretary-general on the same date after serving the government for 31 years.  

“The appointment of Abd Rahim as Home Ministry secretary-general was made based on his experience, expertise and competence in managing operations and security of the country, especially in his career at the Home and Foreign ministries,” he said.

Mohd Sidek was confident Abd Rahim would lead Home Ministry staff in continuing its service and work culture with full integrity and efficiency in maintaining peace in the country.  

Abd Rahim, 55, who holds a Science Degree from Universiti Malaya, began his career in the civil service as an Administrative and Diplomatic officer on Jan 3, 1983.

Abd Rahim has held various positions in the Home ministry before being appointed to the current post on Aug 5, 2010.

“His experience in heading four Home Ministry divisions before being made deputy secretary-general (operations) is an important asset to his competency,” Mohd Sidek said.

He said this knowledge and experience would assist Abd Rahim to plan, coordinate and implement policies on security and public order in the country well.

Mohd Sidek also recorded his appreciation to Mahmood for all his contributions and service in the civil service.
