Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's Facebook fanpage page has recorded one million "likes", quite likely a record of sorts.

At the time of writing, there were a total of 1,000,283 likes.

According to Bernama , Najib is the first politician in the region to achieve such a feat.

For comparison, Najib has half the amount of "likes" on actress Lisa Surihani's fanpage.

In his Facebook entry at about 11pm, Najib said: "I am deeply touched to know my Facebook friends have exceeded a million people. Thank you. I will continue to interact with my loyal online friends. Thank you for your support!".

Previously, Najib had announced that he will host his millionth Facebook supporter and his 500,000th Twitter follower for a high tea session.
