The Special Affairs Department (Jasa) has produced a book to try to counter the opposition’s claim that the Indian community would be sidelined should BN win the 13th general election.

NONE Jasa deputy director Abu Talib Harun said, such fears were unfounded as the government had already formulated many policies and social programmes to develop the community.

"The Indian community should hold on to 'nambikai' (trust) and prepare to be a partner in the government to ensure continuity of the transformation programmes," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting copies of a book, titled 'Nambikai', to 27 non-government organisation representatives and Indian community leaders in Butterworth today.

Jasa is an agency under the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture.

NONE Abu Talib said the 96-page book authored by Jasa's panel writer, M Periasany, was mainly a rebuttal of the allegations harped upon by the opposition.

He said the 16-chapter book would also provide an insight into specific programmes prepared for the community, as outlined in the New Economic Model, National Transformation Programme and Economic Transformation Programme.

According to him, the first publication of 20,000 copies would be distributed among the Indian community and nationwide in stages.
