Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) today announced that managing director Bashir Ahmad Abd Majid’s contract has been extended for another year by the Finance Ministry, effective June 7, 2012.

In a statement, MAHB said Bashir was appointed as managing director in 2003 and has been the driving force behind its steady growth and in transforming Malaysia Airports into one of the most successful government-linked companies in the country.

“The board is pleased with the extension and looks forward to his continued leadership,” said chairperson Dr Aris Othman.

According to MAHB, Bashir started his career in Malaysian Airline System in 1972 and served the airlines for 30 years before being appointed as the Aviation Adviser to the Transport Ministry in 2001.

He is currently the president of the Asia Pacific Airport Council  International (ACI) and a member of the world governing board of ACI.
