Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein assured that action will be taken against those who violated the law, including the police, as the government wants to know the truth.

azlan Hishammuddin told the Star there were three categories of people on April 28 - demonstrators, organisers and instigators, and the police personnel on duty.

“It doesn't matter who they are. If they have broken the law, they will be prosecuted,” he said.

The home minister said that once investigations are completed, it would then be up to the Attorney-General to decide if there was a case for prosecution

The minister noted there were allegations of police brutality on the Internet, and these will be used to investigate errant police personnel.

“I want to stress that no one (who did wrong) will be spared. We will not tolerate anyone (breaking the law and causing chaos). It is important to uphold the law for the truth to prevail and for the interests of the people to be protected,” said the minister.

He gave an assurance that police personnel who “were high-handed” will be dealt with.

The minister said the public should not be prejudiced as only a small number were directly involved with the crowd.
