The murder trial of Stephanie Foray opens today with the prosecution telling the High Court in Kuantan that the French woman died due to actions inflicted by Asni Omar, 37, the accused in the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Salim Soib @ Hamid, in his opening speech, said the prosecution would also submit evidence by a forensic pathologist to prove that Foray died from a probable blunt force trauma to the head.

He said the prosecution would also prove that Asni did it with intention to cause injury on Foray.

Such an injury was normally inflicted to cause death, he added.

NONE Asni is charged with murdering Foray ( left ) at an unnumbered house in Kampung Tekek, Pulau Tioman, Rompin, Pahang, between 8pm on May 10, 2011 and noon on May 12, 2011.

Salim said the prosecution would also prove that the French tourist was at Pulau Tioman on May 10,2011 and was seen with the accused later in the evening before she went missing and her skeletal remains found on Aug 8, 2011.

He said testimony would also be offered to show that at about 8.20am on Aug 8, 2011, Asni, during an interrogation, told police that Foray had died and her body was buried in a cave behind his house at Kampung Tekek, Pulau Tioman.

Following that, about 1.45pm the same day, police went to the site and found the skeletal remains, he added.

He said the prosecution would provide evidence to show that the skeletal remains were that of Foray.

Salim said that at about 4.15pm on Aug 14, 2011, Asni led police to a dumping ground at No 56, Jeti  Kargo Kampung Sarang Tiong, Tanjung Gemok, Rompin, to identify an alcohol bottle, believed to be the murder weapon.
