Some 100 people from several NGOs and resident associations in Puchong today convened at the Serdang district police headquarters in a show of solidarity with the police, who they deem as guardians of the country’s public order.

NONE Taking part in the rally at Bandar Kinrara were members of the Puchong NGO Alliance Association, Malaysian Islamic and Welfare Association (Pekida) Puchong branch, Waris Malaya and Bandar Kinrara Enggang Youth Development Association.

The gathering commended the police and urged them to take action against the Bersih steering committee for violating the Peaceful Assembly Act at the mammoth Bersih 3.0.

“We support the police and urge them to take stern action against the Bersih steering committee,” said a member of the Pekida Puchong branch.

Earlier, the group gathered at the IPK’s gate, holding up pro-police banners and placards before marching to the main door chanting “long live police”.

They then presented a plaque and national flag to the Serdang police chief Abdul Razak Elias, who welcomed them at the door.

Abdul Razak described the rally as injecting motivation to the police force to further safeguard the country.
