The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has informed the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court  that the Attorney-General’s Chambers have rejected Shamsubahrin Ismail's representation over a cheating case regarding the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC).

Sessions judge Rozilah Salleh then fixed the trial dates for July 16 to 27.

NONE Judge Rozilah also fixed June 12 for mention to see whether Shamsubahrin’s ( right ) case will be heard via the fast track system following an amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code which will come into effect on June 1.

Shamsubahrin's lawyer had sent a representation application on March 13 to either drop or reduce the charges against him.

Shamsubahrin, 45, has claimed trial to two counts of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

He is accused of cheating NFC chairperson Mohamed Salleh Ismail into handing over cheques exceeding RM1.755 million at Solaris Mont Kiara between Nov 25 and Dec 6, 2011.

He is also charged with having cheated Mohamad Salleh on Nov 20, 2011 by promising to provide ‘consultancy services’ in return for a fee, although he allegedly knew he could not deliver this.

Shamsubahrin had also faced two other charges of cheating in the Shah Alam and Klang magistrate’s courts.

However, on May 2, the court granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal when the prosecution was instructed to withdraw the charge of deceiving Noridar Abdullah, 45, into depositing RM13,000 into his Maybank account in July 2011, for the supply of two non-existent maids.

On April 12, Shamsubahrin was also granted another discharge not amounting to an acquittal on a charge of cheating a taxi driver, Limat Jonit, 57, of RM90,000 in an investment scam back in 2010.
