The election posters of all political parties will have to carry the names of the publisher and printer, the Election Commission (EC) said today in Putrajaya.

The decision was made at a meeting of the EC panel in line with the withdrawal of the recent amendments to the Election Offences Act, said EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof.

"It was decided to withdraw the requirement on the insertion of the names but, in view of the withdrawal of the amendments, the EC will enforce the ruling again," he said when contacted by Bernama .

One of the amendments approved under Section 11(c) of the act did away with the need to state the names of the publisher and printer on the election material.

The amendments were withdrawn upon the agreement of the EC, government and the opposition political parties.

The amendment bill was tabled on April 9 in an effort to improve the voting process and was approved by the Dewan Rakyat on April 19.
