The Kedah Umno Youth movement today demanded the resignation of Azizan Abdul Razak as the Kedah menteri besar for failing to explain the issue on the planning of four projects worth almost RM37 billion which were alleged to have been made without going through open tender.

Its head, Badrulhisham Hashim, said that as the chief administrator of the state, Azizan must take responsibility to explain the issue to the people besides removing any prejudice against PAS.

“I am certain if the Kedah PAS government is transparent, the issue would be explained because Azizan cannot afford to hide it,” Badrulhisham told Bernama when asked to comment on Azizan’s attitude in evading the issue when raised by the Gerakan Youth head, Tan Keng Liang.

According to Tan, the four projects were the construction of the Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin) in Kuala Ketil costing RM330 million; the Aman Central and Amansuri Residences project in Alor Setar (RM600 million); and the Sungai Limau Hydrocarbon Hub (Sulihh) (RM36 billion).

Azizan, who was asked by journalists on the issue raised by the Gerakan Youth head yesterday, described Tan as being “childish” and “I don’t want to entertain the boy”.
