The Royal Malaysian Police with the cooperation of Interpol is monitoring the movement of a prime suspect who fled to Europe following the recent kidnapping of Dutch boy Nayati Shamelin Moodliar.

Bukit Aman CID deputy director Hadi Ho Abdullah said they had also identified the location of the 24-year-old man, believed to be the mastermind in the case, who had escaped there with his wife, but the wife had later returned.

“We believe the suspect will return to Malaysia soon due to the high cost of living in Europe,” he told reporters in George Town today.

Nayati, 12, was kidnapped on April 27 while walking to the Mont Kiara International School, near his house, in Kuala Lumpur.

He was found safe by a member of the public at the North-South Expressway rest area in Sungai Buloh at 7.55am on May 3.
