In Malaysia, even cows can fly

YOURSAY 'Shahrizat's family could not have secured this sweet-heart deal, if not for her position as Wanita Umno chief and a cabinet minister.'

MACC clears Shahrizat of NFC contract, loan award

your say Odin: Of course, Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil didn't have a hand in the award of the project to her family.

In fact, she never even bothered to ask her husband how the brand new Mercedez CLS suddenly appeared in their porch, where he got the money to buy the tracts of land in a prime area, etc.

Right from the beginning, you (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) and the police were not really anxious to investigate the matter, were you? You were passing the buck to one another.

And, later, did you not announce your so-called raid in advance so that incriminating evidence could be removed or destroyed? Even journalists were already at National Feedlot Corporation's (NFC) office to take shots of your men sauntering in.

Yours is one crummy joint, all right, and it is totally subservient to you-know-who.

Anonymous_3e21: When the government controls everything and when there is no check and balance, this is what happen.

They will robbed you in broad daylight and then they legalised the act using their very own people.

Adam: PKR strategic chief Rafizi Ramli has been lying to us all the way. Now Shahrizat is clean, he's blaming Najib for it?

He should first admit that he got his facts wrong for accusing Shahrizat of being involved with NFC. Rafizi should just shut up and let the authorities do their work.

Not Confused: Of course, there will be no documentary evidence of her involvement in the contract award. Does MACC think we are all stupid?

The very fact that she was a government minister and the contract was awarded to her husband and their children is enough.

Just a word in a certain individual's ear would ensure that the contract came their way.

However, this is Malaysia, where justice is not only never done, but never seen to be done.

Cannon: Shahrizat's family could not have secured this sweet-heart deal of RM250 million, if not for her position as head of Wanita Umno and a cabinet minister.

Considering this so-called loan was awarded, without any tendering, to her family who knows beans about cattle rearing - if this is not political influence, what is?

MACC can clear her, but not the court of public opinion.

Changeagent: Of course, Shahrizat has nothing to do with the awarding of the NFC contract to her own husband and children.

The contract was awarded to them based solely on their reputation as a 'hardworking' family. Never mind the fact that they had no prior experiences, knowledge nor expertise in the running of any cattle-related business.

Anonymous: Only in Malaysia, where even cows can fly.

Cala: What is an elitist state? It is one if the state has been governed by the same party for long period of time. Examples are Malaysia, Singapore, North Korea and China.

Since the power has always been rested with one particular group of people, leadership changed is the result of power struggle within the party, not due to electoral competition where people may throw out the corrupted regime.

If that is the case, central to the regime of an elitist state is about allocative efficiency, not productive efficiency. The elites are busy in figuring out how to divide the ‘spoils' amongst themselves.

So why should they call another kettle black? What matter is how much they get from the kitty. Is it not what they look for?

HangTuah: Again, the question that begs to be asked is whether her family would have got the soft loan had it not been for the fact that she was a federal minister and cabinet member at the material time.

These are all favours dished out to Umno ministers without the batting of an eyelid.

Good luck, Malaysia. Another five years of Umnoputra management and we all have to line up at the soup kitchen for our daily bread.

Abasir: It is precisely for this reason that these crooks do not want a free and fair election. This is why Bersih is their nightmare.

Corrupt practices like this one, scams involving public funds, and murderous deals, including treasonous acts are waiting to be addressed by competent investigations and an independent judiciary.

Blind Freddo: What this finding does is further highlight the massive task ahead of Pakatan Rakyat to clean up the MACC and the police force. Do they have the vaguest idea how to go about it or where to start?

The corrupted attitudes of those two organisations is so deeply entrenched that an internal review would be ineffective. I doubt that there are sufficient qualified and honourable people in Malaysia to take on the task.

You will never admit it, but the problem is with Malaysians - all Umno did was provide the opportunity for Malaysians with sufficiently low standards of ethics, principles and honesty to exhibit their true selves.

Lim Chong Leong: I hope Shahrizat contests in Lembah Pantai. Please PM Najib Razak, please.
