The Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir attended the observation of Venus’ transit across the sun at the Baitul Hilal Complex observatory in Port Dickson today.

His arrival at 9am was received by Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan, state secretary Datuk Mat Ali Hassan, speaker Razak Mansor, state mufti Mohd Yusof Ahmad, exco members and department heads.

He was briefed on the programme by deputy state mufti Nor Azamir Alias.

Subsequently, he proceeded to the observation session, visited the complex and had breakfast before departing at 10.45am.

The observatory, which was opened in March, had the most sophisticated telescope in South-East Asia, and the biggest in Malaysia, costing RM1.8 million.
