A nephew of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has been charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act with consuming or administering methampetamine to himself.

Aidi Rafizul Idrus, 37, claimed trial in the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court when charged yesterday, according to a New Straits Times report today.

He is said to be an aide of Penang PKR exco Law Choo Keong, who heads the agriculture and agro-based industry, rural development and flood mitigation committee.

The report said Aidi was picked up at his Berapit home about 10.30am on Dec 29 last year. Tests allegedly showed he was tested positive for methampetamine.

The court imposed bail of RM4,000 and the case will be mentioned again on June 27.

If convicted, he is liable to a maximum fine of RM5,000 or jail term not exceeding two years.

Aidi was represented by VS Kumar, while DPP Siti Nor Sakinah Ibrahim prosecuted.
